Paris, July 10th 2023 - "As a committed actor alongside businesses, institutions, and real estate professionals, Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels goes further in its desire to encourage its clients to embark on a decarbonization trajectory. They now offer them an incentivized loan backed by a carbon footprint assessment."
Three years after the launch of its impact loan "Arkéa PACT," and following its latest offering "Arkéa Impulse," Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels is introducing "PACT Carbone," a simple financing solution for businesses and institutions aiming to voluntarily and ambitiously reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
This new credit offering, available starting from €2 million, has been designed to provide borrowers with an interest rate reduction. The unique extra-financial criterion for this new program is the reduction of carbon intensity. Additionally, the "PACT Carbone" loan offers an additional bonus to reward companies who have achieved a reduction objective aligned with a carbon trajectory compatible with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Arkéa Banque E&I has partnered with the reputable independent partner, Carbometrix. This trusted third party will regularly calculate the carbon footprint across scopes 1, 2, and 3, regardless of the industry sector involved. Through this solution, borrowers will receive a report detailing their emissions by major categories (buildings, transportation, procurement, information systems, etc.), sector benchmarks, and initial decarbonization pathways.
In the face of the urgent need to combat climate change, Arkéa Banque E&I clearly demonstrates its ambition to support companies in their environmental transition by providing them with a comprehensive framework. The "PACT Carbone" offering enhances the bank's value proposition by delivering a concrete solution that strengthens its clients' journey towards decarbonizing their business models.
As a result, the very first "PACT Carbone" loan has just been concluded with MCD Participations for an amount of €2.7 million. This family office based in Nouvelle Aquitaine encompasses 30 companies organized into three sectors - materials, industry, and training - and employs nearly 600 people. After conducting a comprehensive CSR audit, MCD Participations aims to focus its efforts on decarbonization. The initial carbon footprint assessment conducted under the "PACT Carbone" offering will cover the activities of its materials sector, whose employees are already undergoing training in low-carbon transition.
Guénolé Quéau, Director of Development at Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels, states: ”Taking into account the major societal and environmental challenges of our territories is what inspires our approach towards our clients. After being pioneers in democratizing impact loans, we are pleased to innovate once again with 'PACT Carbone,' which aims to target and quantify the decarbonization objectives of our clients in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. We are delighted with the progress made so far and will continue to pursue our ambition of evolving the banking model and providing comprehensive support to economic actors in their transitions.”
Corinne Bach, co-CEO of Carbometrix, adds : “We are proud to partner with Arkéa Banque E&I, a bank committed to decarbonization, and to act as an independent third party assessing the carbon performance of the companies it finances. Our solutions for calculating, benchmarking, and managing greenhouse gas emissions consistently consider scope 3, are auditable, and rely on the most rigorous international standards. Companies and financial institutions trust us to structure innovative financial products and be at the forefront of risks and opportunities related to climate transition.”
